Lanzarote 2013 - part 8

Puerto del Carmen

César Manrique did catalogue the traditional architecture of Lanzarote
and devoted himself this traditions became the norm for building in Lanzarote.
If Lanzarote still is a harmonic whole, it's mainly thanks to him.
Nevertheless some ugly buildings still remain, a few foreign hotel constructions.
But the general view (including hotels) is that of the cubic little houses with terraces,
trees and flowers, looking North African.

Veryl typical are also the kitchen chimneys, in different form variants.

In Lanzarote it can be very windy

...or wind silent. Tiles in the walls of the alleys descending from the coast road to the sea,
between the two large promenades.

This moon scene as part of the steampunk wagon is dirived from an old silent movie, originally a parody on Jules Vernes' "Voyage to the moon".
